Solar Heating
Solar heating is possibly the best first step for those seeking to cut fuel bills. For the climate locally it is advantageous to choose solar panels rather than tubes. Tubes depend mostly on direct sunlight and are more fragile than panels. Panels are durable and more efficient for this climate, storing up hot water during daylight hours.
Manufacturers differ very slightly on figures but savings of between 50 – 70 % on annual hot water requirements can be obtained. Obviously in the summer months peak savings are achieved, a period when the boiler can be rested.
