OFTEC Registered
Registration with GAS SAFE is a legal requirement for gas technicians. In Northern Ireland, the law does not require a boiler engineer to register with OFTEC, which is the oil industry equivalent of CORGI.
The risks associated with gas appliances, however, also apply to oil-fired devices (and solid fuel stoves or paraffin heaters).
Consumers should demand the same level of competence and accountability
Peace of Mind
Flame Heating & Plumbing is registered with both Gas Safe and OFTEC, which gives you the following benefits:
- an engineer qualified to the highest industry standards
- work covered by public liability insurance
- access to a robust complaints process
CORGI Registered
CORGI was the national watchdog for gas safety in Northern Ireland until the 31st March 2010. The role has now transferred to the Gas Safe Register.
A CORGI registered installer had completed extensive training and passed a rigorous examination. The qualification meant that the engineer was competent to install, service and safety-check gas-fired appliances.
On the 1st April 2010, Flame Heating & Plumbing's Corgi registration transferred to the new Gas Safe scheme.
Why is it important to use a legally registered engineer?
Incorrectly installed and maintained gas appliances can leak carbon monoxide (CO) into your home or office. Every year, too many people die or suffer ill health as a result of this invisible, odourless poison. For further information visit the Carbon Monoxide – Be Alarmed! campaign website.
